The Pima County Sheriff’s Department issued the following press release on September 20, 2011:

This morning at 9:13 a.m., deputies from the Foothills District responded to a serious collision at La Cholla Blvd. & Hospital Drive. Upon arrival, deputies found Myrna A. Arnett (DOB 01/17/32), deceased from injuries sustained at the collision.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit responded to further investigate. It has been determined that Michael Herrera (DOB 10/09/90), was traveling northbound on La Cholla Blvd. Ms. Arnett was southbound on La Cholla Blvd.; stopped in the left hand turn bay to turn left onto Hospital Drive. As Ms. Arnett turned left, Mr. Herrera collided with her vehicle.
Mr. Herrera was transported to the Trauma Center at University Medical Center for his injuries. At this time, the investigation continues.
