“The Nogales High softball team scored one run and held Rio Rico High School scoreless in the first inning on Wednesday. It was all downhill from there for the Rio Rico Hawks as the Apaches went on to run away with a 9-0win.

With a shutout by freshman pitcher Emerald Grijalva, the Apaches easily handed the Hawks their eighth loss of the season and improved their record to 6-3, which is a great step up over last season at this point, assistant coach Rene Grijalva Jr., said.

“Including the tournament, we’re on a seven or eight game winning streak,” he said. [Read more]
